The Costs of Planning

Not the Typical Estate Planning Practice

At Le + Pelletier you won’t have to face the traditional Estate Planning experience.

Traditional planning focuses on the most basic elements of estate planning and most often won’t provide you with a comprehensive plan or the personal service that you need and deserve. In traditional planning a lawyer will complete a series of standard documents. When your documents are given to you, he may advise you to return at regular intervals for review, but he also may not. Most often you will be charged additional fees for any reviews and any changes that need to be made to update your documents, as well as any time the lawyer takes to speak to you on the phone or meet with you in person, the cost of making copies of the documents, and the postage for anything that needs to be mailed.

After receiving your documents, your life will go on. You will buy a home or refinance the one you already had, you’ll purchase a new car, your children will get older, making your guardianship choices outdated, but you either don’t know you should call your lawyer or you don’t want to call him because you know you’ll get a bill in the mail for the time it took to answer your questions.

You might also hear something about a change in the estate tax law, but you figure you’d hear from your lawyer if it was something that affected you, so you don’t worry about it.

It won’t be until you unexpectedly become incapacitated or die that your family will find the documents the lawyer prepared for you. But they’ll quickly realize that your plan is so outdated that it no longer applies to your life, your assets, or the current law. Your family doesn’t know what to do, so they contact the same lawyer that you used to prepare the documents. He happily accepts fees from your estate to probate your assets which never made it to the trust.

Le + Pelletier Helps You Plan for Life

The majority of traditional estate planning practices are designed to serve senior citizens who are preparing for death. The traditional estate planning practice focuses on seeking out new clients, with little to no focus given to providing service to already existing ones. Unfortunately, they are not designed to serve growing families who experience a lot of change over time. This leaves families unprotected.

What makes our firm different is that we were created with the needs of growing families in mind. We’ve developed unique systems to provide our clients with the guidance you need to build and maintain a life of security and prosperity.

We encourage open and frequent communication with our clients. We contact you on a regular basis throughout the planning process and keep in contact with you after your plan is complete to make sure your plan is always up-to-date. And you don’t have to be concerned about those communications costing you anything. Our estate planning practice does not bill by the hour, so you don’t have to be afraid to call with any questions that might come up. All of our services are billed on a flat-fee basis that our clients agree to in advance. You do not pay any additional fees for things like copies, postage, or time spent speaking with your attorney.

When it comes to planning your estate, we ensure that the most important details of your planning are followed through on and that your plan continues to work throughout your lifetime. To ensure that your assets are always protected and won’t end up going through a long, expensive court process we’ve created membership programs so that your plan will stay updated throughout your life.
